Welcome Adaptive MTBers to a park near you

We welcome Adaptive MTBers in the following parks on these days. We thought the equestrian community should know so they can adjust their riding as needed.

March 15 – Patapsco Valley State Park

March 22 – Little Bennett Regional Park

March 29 – Fairland Regional Park

Some horses may not be familiar with recumbent adaptive bikes yet since this is a fairly new sport in our area. Adaptive bikes are often lower to the ground. This might be a good opportunity for riders to see adaptive bikes in action to access any training needs you might want to do at home, or possibly hand walk the horses nearby to see how they react while staying a safe distance away.

Please consider these riders may not be able to yield to equestrians as other user groups do.

Please introduce yourselves if you come across these MTB athletes while on the trails, and show them a warm reception. Many of us support the need for adaptive access to trails, as many horsemen already use our “4-legged adaptive furry equids” to access trails we can no longer hike due to mobility changes.
