Trail rides are a relaxing way to meet other riders and enjoy the natural beauty of open space, woods, and park land.
TRAILS and MAPS
Guide to Maryland Horse Trails – The Guide, put together by the Maryland Horse Industry Board, contains a large, illustrated map of the horse trails in Maryland’s 23 counties; a list of trails in each county, including telephone number, length, type of surface; and other valuable information about trail riding, including trail stewardship, trail courtesy on multi-use trails, camping with horses, and Maryland trail riding organizations. The Guide is available in hard copy from the Maryland Horse Industry Board at 410-841-5798 or at http://www.mda.maryland.gov/horseboard/Documents/HorseTrails.pdf (PDF).
TROT has undertaken an extensive mapping project whose goal is to provide maps and local trail experts for most Maryland trails accessible to horses. As part of this effort, TROT is asking riders and other trail users to send us your maps (preferably as PDF or JPG files) and for volunteers to serve as a resource for trails. GPX files for GPS units and KMZ files for use with Google Earth are available now for several parks. If you are interested in mapping your favorite riding trail(s) or park, please contact Trot Activity.
